Just when they thought hip hop was dead.... Here comes Young Chizz. Young Chizz, from the super hip hop duo “Fame & Chizz”, has decided to step out into the world and debut his first independent project. Young Chizz was born Naeem Cunningham, on May 9th, in Jamaica Queens, New York. Young Chizz mother would say that “He was the most responsible out of all of my children”. Young Chizz father wasn't around much of his childhood, so he was mostly raised by his mother and grandmothers in the high crime area of Jamaica Queens.

During a rough upbringing, detailed in many of his songs, Young Chizz witnessed drug dealing and violence. He attended Louis D Brandeis High School in Manhattan, where he met his partner Mark “Fame The Great” Lewis, and formed the super hip hop duo “Fame & Chizz”. Young Chizz later left that school to attend Jamaica High School in Jamaica Queens, NY which was much closer to where he lived.

Chizz turned to rap at a very young age to escape the violence, poverty and drugs that were surrounding his neighborhood. In 1998 Young Chizz, Fame and a few other friends joined together to form a group they called Dark Agez, at which time he acquired the name “Young Chizz”, which he decided to keep as his stage name. Although he was all set with a stage name, things didn't start to pick up until Fame & Chizz left the group and decided to step out together as a duo. With the help of a few close friends (Kevin Butler, Kevin Sancho, Antione Howard and Michael Larcher), they formed an independent recording label and called it B.Q.E Entertainment, which stood for Brooklyn, Queens Entrepreneurs, as some of the founders were from the borough of Brooklyn and some were from the borough of Queens. The summer of that year, Fame & Chizz released their first mixtape, titled “Sleep When I'm Dead”, which was hosted by the one and only DJ Kool Kid.

Two Years later, Young Chizz achieved even more success when they released their 2nd mixtape, “The Renovation”, which was inspired by their belief that the music game needed to be renovated with new talent and better music. This mixtape, along with their single, “Can You Feel It”, which was produced by artist/producer Hifyve, landed them on a college tour, with DefJam artist Young Jeezy and Young Money artist Lil Wayne, for 3 months. Following the tour was a plethora of radio play and interviews from various magazines and internet blogs.

The following year, Fame & Chizz were called to go back on tour once again with Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne and a new artist by the name of Lil Boosie. This time around, Fame & Chizz had the opportunity not only open up for these major artists, but also to headline at several venues. The following year, Fame & Chizz created the smash single “Jump On It”, which was a remake of the old Sugar Hill Gang song. It went to the #1 spot on numerous radio stations around the world and made it to the top 100 charts on Itunes in several countries. Shortly after this success, Young Chizz became seriously ill and had to take a break from music to focus on his health.

Present year, Young Chizz is stepping out on his own and working on his debut album “Why Not?”. His first single, titled “Swagger on a Million”, has the streets and radio in a frenzy as we speak. The hard hitting, slick tongued street artist may be the most anticipated artist of this year.
