no one's following me home today
i guess it wasn't enough of a mood swing day
i inferred the words you wouldn't say
but there's no one going down on mr. brunet
you had headphones and heartbeats
you had me alone in the backseat
you had four years on Holden street
you had time to bleed out on the concrete
we go to bed and wake up depressed
i start to laugh as i watch you get dressed
we get tired but we're too important to rest
and we agree it's why we're depressed
we wear clothes that don't fit because we're too cheap to buy more
and we overdose on broken hopes that are too unlikely to strive for
we bemoan our tiny lives but we're scared to make them bigger
and we know how make them go away but too arrogant to pull the trigger
tell me what's more enjoyable
than stroking the raven black hair
of someone you find adorable
if you said "nothing"
if you said nothing

innocent we try
to find a words to lie
about our state
we hurry home but always late
i call it love you call it rape

we're starting to see through what was once only impenetrable
the sky, the rain, the darkness is almost manageable
innocent we try to find words to back up the lies
but we fall short and become instruments of our own religion's demise
and we call ourselves wise
when finally admit what our instinct denies

Just listening to your whole song catalogue again. The lyrics for this one are some of your best. Besides being heart wrenching and honest, the words flow together in a really enjoyable way.
