The Golden Shopping Mall in the Sky

We're not quite sure what The Golden Shopping Mall in the Sky is, it just is and always shall be.
We'll see what happens but THIS IS NOT a forum for selling stuff. There are plenty other dank spaces on the web to do that.
Please post away, add pictures and enlighten our lives.

I just posted a documentary link on 10cc on the group mainpage...
the doc has me thinking about tape and studio techniques, etc...
Anyone have any tape/studio/production tricks/stories to "kick around?"
    Your stories would be great,
    but then so would recounting others' experiences;
eg., Sam Phillips, Norm Petty, George Martin...
Anyone still use tape on occasion, or have interest in doing so?

I have a couple scenarios that come to mind, but thought I'd wait to see...

Hope you guys are doing well and creative.

Alas my studio trickery does not extend beyond Audacity and cheap/free digital recording. I'd love to use tape but other than the initial expense I have no where near the time required to edit tape.
My favourite piece of production would have to be Transformer (Lou Reed/Mark Ronson), I'm a real fan of giving things space to breathe.

Thanks for the nod to Transformer...
Do you like "Metal Machine Music?"

You have a point; tape would be expensive in both time and money.
I'd need a good reason to take up the splice block again, though there are reasons; eg., the visual potentials of using tape (eg. 12' loops across the room to a mic stand)present some interesting mixed media possibilities.
Philosphically I favor an analog/digital approach.
That said, I am grateful and overjoyed with the potentials that have "come down the pike"
with pc/mac based recording and production.

I remember the first day in a college production class when the Prof had the class pass around a reel of 1/4" tape till everyone was (joyously)enmeshed in it :)

Here's a few links of potential interest: #
