In the various accounts of how Josh and the Empty Pockets came to be, one thread of the story stays consistent. It was amidst a hot, Chicago summer in 2006 when Josh, Nate and Danny officially became an indie rock band. Recording their first original three-track demo, "Missteps," at Studio Chicago, the boys attracted the attention of entertainment insider and manager, Janet Louer, whose 2007 theatrical production of the Buddy Holly Story at the Mercury Theatre served as a showcase for the new group, allowing them to produce a tribute album and acting as a vehicle for major-market television and radio appearances along with favorable reviews in print (TV: WGN national news, local ABC, CBS and FOX news; Radio: WLUP, WLS, WCKG, and WGN; Print: Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Reader, Pioneer Press and Daily Herald).

With the positive response they received, the boys went back in the studio to record a full album of their music. They released "Under the Bed" at the beginning of 2008, produced by industry veteran Rick Fritz, and later that year released the single, "Fall Right Now," to small and medium market radio where it climbed to #11 on the FMQB AC40 chart in November.

Shortly after charting, Josh and the Empty Pockets officially added co-lead vocalist Erika Brett and headed into another recording session, this time for a holiday single. While on their first tour, Josh and the Empty Pockets' double-sided track, "Baby It's Cold Outside/Baby Please Come Home," reached #73 on Mediabase (the service that monitors large market radio and feeds Billboard Magazine) and received airplay on over 100 radio stations nationwide including seven Clear Channel stations, considered by most to be an impossible nut to crack for an unsigned group.

In January of 2009, Josh and the Empty Pockets signed a record production/distribution deal with Chicago label, 8th Impression/Universal Music Group. Set to tour for most of 2009, the Empty Pockets are excited to see what the future will hold. One thing is sure, Empty Pockets never say die.
