Hi everyone! Just a quick introduction...

You can read about our mission for Uvumi on our about page, to get started. Of course there is also a FAQ section if you need help with anything.

As many of you know, Uvumi officially launched in October 2009 after about six months of private beta testing, but we didn't really get the attention of a large group of artists and music fans until a few days ago, after TheSixtyOne overhauled their website, removing many of the features and functions that held their community together. We have no comment on that at this time. Since we were discovered by many of the "refugees" from this event, Uvumi's user base has grown by about 30% (in only 3 days!).

So here we are, wading through large amounts of emails, private messages, and profile comments, learning that the newest members of our community have some fantastic ideas for improving Uvumi.

This will be our official blog for all things Uvumi. We invite everyone to join us in the comments of these blog posts to share ideas and discuss the direction we want to take with this project. We don't feel possessive about Uvumi, we feel that it belongs to the users that embrace it, to the artists and fans who add value to the community, and to the overall art and music scenes that we hope to enrich with this project. In our eyes, this is your site, and what you think matters, so we want to include everyone in news and discussions about upcoming features and design ideas.

We'll get some more blog topics going soon to start the ball rolling with member discussions. We also announce bug fixes and site updates here, so keep on eye on this blog for important information about the website!

Thanks everyone for being part of this! We loves you!

Really appreciate the fact you guys are not only a lot more communicative than thesixtyone.com ever was, but you are open to suggestions and feedback too! Getting used to this site like I did with the old sixtyone.com site a few years ago before it went to ruin. Best of luck and we'll support you all the way!

Happy to join the fun! I'm communicating with some of the artists on T61 inviting them to come here as well. Might as well make it a swingin' party. :)

I just want to backup the comments of my fellow t61 expats above. Many of us would be more than happy to grease the palm of the monkey that feeds our tune hole--both on both the finance and tech ends.

You just stated the opposite of what everyone's big issue with T61 was. As far as the developers there were concerned, it was their site, and they could do with it as they pleased. They're certainly entitled to have that view, but I finally got tired of putting up with it. Glad to find some place that's more willing to work toward what the people using it want. :)

Though I do hope you'll be sure to give us a resounding "no" when it's really necessary. :P

As far as funding goes, even if you guys just wanted to set up a paypal donate until you get something else going, I'm sure many of us would be willing to oblige.

Wow, you guys are awesome! We really appreciate your generous suggestions, and we'll let you know if you can help us in any way to keep our network and servers humming along! Just please don't slashdot or digg us in the next few days, we need time to prepare!

I arrived yesterday and haven't had time to really dig the music and the community here.
But I definitely will, as of all the places I've visited since the launch of the the new t61, it's the most welcoming and the closest to what I'm looking for.
I had trouble uploading songs yesterday, sent an email and got an answer and the bug fixed within two minutes.
Be sure I will spread the word.

    Best Music Website

Thanks for the comments. IMO, you have developed the best music site on the web. It seems like the team here has their heads screwed on straight and deserves a rabid listener/artist community.
