From their humble roots playing small clubs in San Diego to their sun-kissed spot closing out the 2010 Summer Solstice Festival in Santa Barbara, Steel Foundation has branched out vibrantly in their relatively short five-year history.

Steel Foundation got its start in 2006 and since their introduction they have shared the stage with many local southern California bands including Roots Vision, High Tide, Tribal Theory and Through The Roots. In 2009 Steel Foundation began moving their talent northward, putting on shows at clubs, colleges, festivals and private functions along the California coast from San Diego to Long Beach and on to Santa Barbara in 2010. Steel Foundation’s unique use of the steel drum as a mainstream instrument has earned them much favor and many fans. Accomplished musicians all, Steel Foundation has performed material on the stage with local artists from international touring acts including Corina Rose, Larry Young (Common Sense) and Carlos Marin, Jr. (Pato Banton and The Mystic Roots Band). Their largely reggae repertoire is performed with popular appeal, including crowd-pleasing renditions of Steve Miller, Elvis Costello and Men At Work; and Steel Foundation's infectious fun keeps the party going set after set -- making a Steel Foundation performance a valuable choice for both public and private events.

All of Steel Foundation’s band members write material and in February 2009 they completed production of a four-song demo CD, the content of which they discussed in a ½-hour radio interview with local on-air personality Ras Charles on KKSM Radio in San Marcos. Steel Foundation is presently working on the release of their first independently produced EP titled "Reggae, Reggae, Reggae" which is scheduled for release later this summer.
