Smarton trio

Smarton Trio hail from Budapest and has gigged solidly since its inception in 2003.

The band was formed at the Franz Liszt Music Academy's Jazz Department by guitarist Marton Suto, bassist Zoltan Kovacs and drummer Hunor Szabo.

Smarton Trio's style is a unique mix of hippy rock, bluesy jazz, deconstructed pop and free improvisation. They define their musical output as "jazz, chewin' gum pop, surf rock, space bossa music!"

Full of an emotional, cerebral and dynamic content, their music has already captivated a wide audience varying from jazz purists to electro addicts.

Smarton Trio performed a concert in London (September 2009) that was filmed and broadcasted by the BBC HD television channel as part of the first episode of its Jazz Shorts - Late Night Jazz series.
