Lorie Strother, 'The BluesLady' has performed her interpretation of early acoustic blues since the early 1990s. Lorie can't remember a time when she wasn't singing because it was something that came so naturally. However, she vividly remembers the moment when she decided that she would be a performer. That moment occurred when she received her first standing ovation at 9 years old.

Corey Harris has called Lorie "a real blues woman [who's] got soul," Living Blues Magazine described her singing as "assertive, expressive and sensitive," Carl Larsen of the Daily News Leader states that Lorie "sings the real true blues…with a big booming, bluesy voice."

In 2005, The BluesLady released her second CD compilation, Raw G and released the self-penned single, Keep Your Mind on the Blues on the Blue Ridge Compilation produced by Catawba Records.

By the way, we just realized there were comments on songs! :-) So, we just had to stop by and say thank you for listening and for leaving us your kind words. We're so glad you enjoyed "What We Leave Behind".

Anyway, have a great day! All our best to you!

A rather unoriginal nickname given to me by a buddy of mine named Shades...he's gone now..but the name lives on. I'm glad you liked what you heard and that you got to listen to these old tunes.

    Lillian Green's version from 1942.
Did you know, there is a Sinead O'Connor version from 2003?
A friend told me about it when I asked him for some old jazz/blues singers....hope that helps.

It looks like you'll got pissed off at something or someone and jumped ship. This is how it should work in real life...there's strength in numbers for sure!

Teaching English through the JET program. Great opportunity to live and work abroad straight out of college. Yeah thesixtyone.com is a website we abandoned because the creators shirked a lot of folks really blatantly and essentially lost what many of us liked about it, so when something stops being worth it to you you stop using it. Kinda like, Shame Shame Shame... ;-)
