Janine, We Should consists of Justin Le and Stanly Tran, two musicians who met at El Modena High School. With influences ranging from all over the acoustic indie and alt rock spectrum, Justin and Stanly Tran found themselves in a rare state of shared direction. Despite coming from vastly different musical backgrounds and only collaborating twice before (as stand-ins for a MUSE cover band, at that, and performing in EMHS winter drum line), the two quickly realized that what they both had in mind for Janine, We Should was more or less identical.

On a dark and lonely night of broken dreams, Justin penned the first song. Just like that, the band was quickly under way with a momentum that could not be stopped. Despite a pause in the summer, the group (despite losing a loved member and gaining another) continued to pick up its pace. After writing enough songs for an album, Janine, We Should put on a successful debut house show with an impressive turn-out in November 2008.

From there, things took off. The members personally invested in recording equipment and software and turned out the four-song All I Know Demo EP at the end of December. They were simply vocal tracks over guitar and piano, but they were enough to send J,WS to shows around town and fundraisers.

After the initial rush died down, Justin Le and Stanly Tran put the project on hold for a couple of months to focus on their academic careers before re-launching in June. On June 8th, 2009, J,WS released their first full-length album, marketed as an EP: the Now Playing EP, with nine original tracks with full instrumentation recorded and mastered in the hi-tech studio conditions of Justin's bedroom.

Over the months, Janine, We Should hopes to continue expanding their scope and begin playing at venues across town again. They won't stop writing and they won't ever stop making their music.

We're actually trying to find venues right now. It's been tricky between school and everything...any ideas of local places we should send our stuff to?

My son's band just played at The District in Tustin, which has just switched to acoustic-only artists (might work for you guys) and they're playing at The Spectrum on 2/6. Both outdoor, transient venues (not the best but beats play-to-pay venues and merch sales are pretty good). They've also played at Blue Laguna Lounge in Laguna Beach which is a small venue but interested in building a rep as being supportive of local bands and does pay a little. There's also an upcoming show at UCI (non-paying) that The Impulse is playing with other bands (a day time show for charity) on 3/3 -- they might be looking for more bands. Also you should try to get an interview on ocrockradio.com -- they will get your songs into their rotation. Since you guys are probably over 21, there's more available for you -- check out this website: www.indieonthemove.com for booking contacts and venues in the area. Glad to help you guys any way I can!

Thanks for the tips =) Yeah, after the initial wave of shows we sort of ran out of venues locally that we knew to contact. This really helps.

What kind of music does Impulse play, again? Is it viable for a double booking?

No problem. Good luck to you. As for The Impulse (who are rolling out a name change in the next week or so and then going on Itunes), they play alt rock/indie rock (they have 8 originals recorded and do covers of songs by Phoenix, Kings of Leon, The Killers, MGMT). Check out their MySpace if you want to hear their stuff...and see if you would be a good fit for a double booking...alsostop by their set at The Spectrum on Saturday, February 6th if you get a chance. They're playing on the stage in front of the ferris wheel and sharing the 4-hour set with another OC band No Look Escape.

I feel a bit confused and disoriented, but in a strange way kind of excited too. I get the feeling Sam and James created a monster and we are it. It always looked like it would be fun to be a monster!
