At a young age, Monica Harris a.k.a. J 2 The Truth sang in the gospel choir at church as well as listened to all genres of music, so she would always know the next sound. One day her older brother wanted her to rap because of her voice and as he began to practice with her, she began to seriously enjoy it. In 1996 she lost her brother to street violence as well as her desire to do music. As time went on, she slowly got back into her passion of music and at the age of 21 opened for 'Slique" in 2008. Soon thereafter, she performed for an E! event with a live band and also opened for the living legend 'Prince', Pharcyde, and most recently performed at Camp-lo at the 2009 African Festival. J 2 The Truth has continued to push her career forward by signing a deal with BBS Records in the winter of 2009 and is ready to drop her debut album in the summer of 2010.
