Merry-Go bio

Dave, adam, jonny and matthew (aka Nug) are 4 young lads from Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Though they have been playing together as merry-go for the last 5years, they have been friends long before when at school.
Dave, adam and matthew were all at the same high school. Their story is; in 2001 at school, Adam (guitar) wanted to get a band together and had heard Dave (vocals/bass) could play bass. So he tracked him down and bluntly put it to Dave, saying 'you wana play bass in a band'. Dave, thrown back by his straight forward approach, was too afraid to say no. when boredem set in during breaktimes, they'd spend it down at the music block where they got matthew to drum with them.
Over the next few years the lads jammed and played the youth club and small pub shows in wakefield. Just having fun.
In 2005, the bands second guitarist (jony booth) left and they were left needing a new member.
Jonny had just left his own band where he played guitar/keys when he was contacted. Dave had meet jonny in college in 2002. Him & jonny used to swap band demos at college.
Jonny loved the band, so he jumped at the chance in december 2005.
Now with a new member, combined with the lads coming of age,(all turning 20 at this point), their music and songs really began to develope.

So over the last 5years, the lads have made a few demos and just gigged as much as possible. Anywhere and everywhere being their policy. 2009 being the bands most succesful year with slots at guilfest, edinburgh festival and the cavern internation pop tour. There song 'for the moment...' peaked at number6 in the U.K. Official unsigned chart, spending 5 weeks in the top10 and 3months in the top 40.
In october 2009 the band were nominated for two awards at the exposure music awards. (Best live act and best band in area).
Suprised at the nominations, adam and dave travelled to the cermony in cambridge with no expectations apart from having a good time at the bar. Merry-go won BEST BAND FOR AREA, the lads night was much of a blur after that.

The band were now being brought to peoples attention. Producer bob cranham to be exact. After showing much excitement, he could see the promise in the band and agreed to produce them.

Now, with their new E.p all set to record this spring in Eastbourne, 2010 looks set to be an productive year for Merry-Go
