  • blog post Report July News!

Posted on Jul 28, 2011 - 18:30 by Carrie Clark
Summer is moving by at lighting speed and there is much excitement brewing in the land of Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers. So much so that I'm going to keep this newsletter extra short because I'll be sending you another email in just a couple weeks....

July July July! I'm playing a couple solo shows this very weekend. Both are free and all ages are welcome...

sweet, savory and fabulous French food. This is an early afternoon show, come get Frenchy with me

And then for next month I want to tell you about a very special event that is very near and dear to my heart so please read on...
Monday, August 15th at 7pm-10pm: Benefit for our good friend and Lonesome Lover guitarist, Greg Fulton, at Vitos in Seattle
Many of you on this list have seen Greg, Lonesome Lover guitarist and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, light up the stage with his spectacular playing. Over the past few years he's been fighting a condition called Focal Dystonia. He's been able to play through it for the past few years, but recently this condition has really started to take it's toll and is now not only affecting his ability to play music but also his ability to make a living which is as a full time musician and guitar teacher. Our band along with a host of Greg's friends and musical cohorts are putting together a benefit for Greg to help raise funds to help pay for his therapy without which could render him unable to play music at all.

For those who don't know, Focal Dystonia is a neurological condition that affects a muscle or group of muscles in a part of the body and causes an involuntary muscular contraction or twisting. For example, in focal hand dystonia (which is what Greg suffers from), the fingers either curl into the palm or extend outward without control. Focal dystonia most typically affects those who rely on fine motor skills—musicians, writers, surgeons, and can be career ending. Greg has been fortunate in finding a therapist, also a guitarist, who had focal dystonia and has recovered. There will be more information about the people Greg's working with at the concert. And yes, he will be at the benefit so please stop in and show him some love.
