As haunting and striking as the sculpted inlet of the Bay of Fundy, Amanda's voice has begun to garner attention in the international independent music scene. "Ottawa-based folk singer-songwriter Amanda Cottreau blends haunting melodies with themes of love and redemption. Her tunes are wrought with internal conflict but always seem to offer some sort of resolution through self-awareness. There’s something almost old-timey to Cottreau’s approach that recalls the sweetness of artists like Feist. While she cites Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and fellow Kingston singer-songwriter Sarah Harmer as influences, Cottreau has a voice all her own." ~ Collin Elliott, STEREOFAME (Nov 02, 2010).

Over the years, Amanda has been refining her hauntingly beautiful brand of folk, elevating sadness to triumph and desolation to celebration. In 2009, she met and began collaborating with Ryan Potter, a seasoned Ottawa musician and closet producer. After 19 months of intermittent recording sessions, Amanda finally birthed her first solo album "Universe in a Soft Sell" (NOV 2010). You can purchase "Universe in a Soft Shell" online at iTunes, Bandcamp, as well as over 30 other online distributors.

In January of 2010, Amanda partnered with Steve Perron to form an acoustic band, STAIRWELL LEO. Their band delivers a multi-decade repetoire of Classic Rock, Alternative & Folk covers blended seamlessly with their original collaborative creations. Together, ethereal songstress Amanda Cottreau and forefront guitarist Steve Perron create a fusion of raw/rugged acoustic alchemy.

Over the last three years, Amanda has played over 175 shows in venues with 40-900 capacity between Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal-Halifax.

Amanda has shared the stage with: Mike Falzone,Katey Morley, Meghan Tonjes, Ophelia Syndrome, Sheree Plett, Jeremy Eisenhauer, Jesse Greene Band, Dan Baker, Solomon Skillman, Steve Perron, The Strip, Jason Paul Johnston, Terns, Jason Erb (Infotourist), Sarah Baetz, Shari Doseger, Jared Siebert, Tim Forbes (Telephoto), Paul Villeneuve (Reno’s Hitmen), Natasha Pasternak, Lynzie Kent (God Made Me Funky), Jayda, Emile Pelletier, Brothers Through The Hill, Mindy Amelotte, Ryan J. Actually I have been working on a number of new songs with my partner Steve Perrron. We have created a band called STAIRWELL LEO. There are some videos up on YouTube..."City Lullaby" is our first collaboration. Hoping to get it tracked and uploaded after I finish with my work on the solo album "Universe In A Soft Shell". Soooooo close. The additions of multi-layered cello plus violin and piano have taken my original works to a whole new level. I'm so excited! I can barely contain the impulse to up load the polished tracks. And you? How goes the recording adventure?
